Problem Statement: "In what way might we create a better universal lamp design."
This week I have continued to work with two Lamps Design. I have created 2 Alpha prototypes and I have created another survey that could help me choose one of the concepts for my Beta Prototype.
Results of the last survey and earlier prototypes you can see by clicking on the "Week 5" button.

Develop weekly prototypes you can see by clicking on the appropriate links "Week 4" and "Week 5":
Primary Needs:
1. The Lamp has universal design
2. The Lamp design can be easily updated
3. The Lamp cover could use various colours
4. The lamp cover can be used for any design
5. The Lamp dimensions can change
6. The Lamp production materials would be eco friendly
7. The Lamp would satisfy the necessary OHS standards
8. The Lamp would be easily transportable
9. The Lamp is affordable

NOTE that in the process of creating an Alpha prototype of lamps the design can be looks different because some details can be improved or can be included, however the concept idea remains the same.
Alpha Prototype: Lantern Design "C"
The idea is to have multiple easily assembled design elements from which any lantern can be constructed.
Materials used: Fireproof Paper and Plastic
Characteristic:
1. Lamp design can be easily updated
The Lamp spare parts could be renewed easily or would be easily substitutable
2. The Lamp dimensions can change
The lamp size could be increased or decreased by the appropriate size of the side details
3. The lamp would be easily transportable
The lamp is easily folded, easy to disassemble or assemble
4. The lamp cover can be used for any design
The lamp cover can use photos, images, graphics or plain colour.

Alpha Prototype: Lantern Design "G"
The idea is to have flexible single piece design where same lantern can take different shapes or forms.
Materials used: Fireproof Paper

The Lamp spare parts would be easily substitutable

Evaluation
These are the results from second survey.
Target users: my family, friends and Coursera classmates.

Concept select
The final concept was selected by a second survey.
This time on the question: "If you were choosing a Lamp, which of the following would you be most Likely to purchase?", 71.43% of users chose Lamp Design "C" and 14.29% of users chose Lamp Design "G".
When I asked to evaluate the design of the lamp individually, the results were as follows: 80% of users chose design "C" as a Very Successful design, and only 29% of users
chose design "G" as a Very Successful.
Thus, I can say with certainty that the concept for "Beta" research is Lamp Design "C".
